Everyone has a story...

Mine began on May 9, 2014, as I was loaded onto a helicopter for the flight of my life. Earlier that evening, a rollover ATV accident had crushed my arm, leaving my hand nearly severed. It was hanging by a thread, literally.

I felt lucky to be alive.

The years leading up to this event were filled with challenges: childhood abuse, a cancer diagnosis, parenting heartaches, marital unrest, financial struggles, low self-esteem--and constant turmoil. Sometimes, I felt like I was being buried alive.

Trauma and heartache had long since crushed my soul, leaving me broken and alone. I was bitter and angry--with good reason.

But the accident changed my life.

I left the hospital after two weeks in ICU with my hand reattached and my heart forever changed.

"I felt like I was being buried alive..."

A lthough twenty surgeries, hundreds of hours of physical therapy, and unfathomable pain lay ahead of me, I returned home and made a conscious decision to create peace in my life every moment of every day.

It wasn't easy.

But as I shed the bitterness and anger, my attitude about life began to change.

I didn't understand the impact this was having at the time. All I knew was how I felt:

Amazing!

I had never felt peace--not the kind that sticks around and assures you everything will be okay, even when it feels like all hope is lost.

It didn't take long, however, to start recognizing patterns--patterns that seemed significant.

I felt different. I acted differently. And I discovered a well of energy within myself that I'd been unaware of previously. These elements came together to motivate me to take action. And then I started seeing results like I had never seen before.

That's when it hit me!

I have the power to choose exactly what my life looks and the ability to create whatever I want. And it's all in my head!

It was a transformational lesson, compliments of the most difficult challenge I've ever experienced.

The story continues...

My attitude didn't change all at once. I'm still growing, even today.

It's taken years of redefining my belief system and developing emotional resilience, which happens as you consciously manage your thoughts, feelings and actions in connection with the things going on around you.

Today, it's become obvious that I'll never be done transforming.

Instead, I'm striving to see each challenge in my life as an opportunity to practice these skills and become more and more resilient

This decade as brought plenty of opportunities to do just that!

As the world continues to deal with political unrest, riots, extreme weather, and the effects of Covid-19--not to mention personal challenges--it may start to feel like you're under attack.

But it doesn't have to feel that way. You have the power to create peace on purpose...

And with front-row seats to history in the making, there's no better time to make your mental health a priority!

After my accident, I discovered that living a life filled with purpose and peace doesn't have to be complicated.

It isn't about what you do.

It isn't about how you feel, either.

It's all about the judgment you put out into the world. It's all about your thoughts and what you make them mean.  It's all about the energy you create and the way you show up in the world.

It's all about mental stability and emotional resilience...because the truth is that peace is cultivated in your heart.

"...peace is cultivated in your heart."

Perhaps the greatest lesson I learned from my accident is this...

To cultivate peace on purpose you must learn to develop emotional resilience.

When I emerged from surgery the morning after my accident, I also emerged from the fog I'd been living in most of my life--a fog of anger, bitterness, blame, dissonance and judgment.

For the first time in my life, I was truly conscious.

Conscious of my thoughts. Conscious of my emotions. Conscious of my energy. Conscious of my actions.

There was nothing I could do about my circumstances--because they were not in my control--but by consciously choosing everything else, I changed my life.

It wasn't always easy.

In fact, I failed a lot before it became a habit.

But when you're willing to fail, and you're willing to face any emotion--any amount of discomfort--then you open up a whole new world of possibilities.

Growth and progress become something that's happening every day--and peace follows.

...when you're willing to face any emotion--any amount of discomfort--

then you open up a whole new world of possibilities.

If you're ready to work toward developing greater emotional resilience

and want to start creating peace on purpose, let's chat!
