Why Self-Love Is a Lifelong Practice (And How to Keep It Going)

Introduction

For the past eight years, I’ve been helping women overcome life’s challenges by shifting their perspective and embracing self-love. I’ve poured my heart and soul into this work because I know what it’s like to navigate the messiness of life and come out stronger on the other side.

But I’ll be honest—somewhere along the way, I lost sight of my own balance.

When Helping Others Takes Over Your Life

I love what I do, but my business started taking over my life. Despite all the mental health work I had done over the past decade, my old people-pleasing and perfectionist tendencies began creeping back in. The self-love and self-care habits I worked so hard to cultivate? They started slipping away.

A couple of months ago, I realized something had to change. I took a step back to rest and reset—and it turned out to be the greatest gift I could have given myself.

Self-Love Is a Daily Practice, Not a One-Time Fix

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that healing isn’t something you do once and check off the list. Staying mentally and emotionally healthy is a lifelong, daily practice that requires purpose, intention, and nurturing.

I’ve spent years teaching my clients this truth, but I forgot that it applies to me, too!

Self-love means:

  • Prioritizing yourself even when life is demanding

  • Managing self-doubt and replacing it with self-compassion

  • Nurturing relationships that support and uplift you

  • Giving yourself grace just as freely as you give it to others

When you do this, you’re no longer just surviving life’s challenges—you’re building a foundation of resilience that allows you to thrive.

Finding Balance Again

During my time off, I focused on the simple things that ground me—resting, reflecting, connecting, and crocheting (lots and lots of crocheting!). I got back to the basics of fueling my body, feeding my soul, and creating space for what truly matters.

One of the things that helps me process life is writing. That’s why I’ve started blogging again—to share my journey, my lessons, and insights that might help you, too.
